Fusion Intensive 2025
Myrtlewood Fusion Intensive 2025 brought more than 70 dancers from North America and Europe to a beautiful camp in Oregon for intense training in Tango, Urban Kiz, and Brazilian Zouk with opportunities to learn though a combination of solo- and partnered- movement training, dance history, private lessons and social dance.
It provides a unique environment for intermediate and advanced Fusion dancers to level up their craft, deepening their skills and socializing with likeminded dancers from across the community.
Around half of the funding for Myrtlewood in 2025 came via PFC’s fiscal sponsorship, which allowed event tickets to be discounted by around half for most attendees, making the event vastly more financially accessible. We expect this trend to continue in 2026.
FRESH MEAT WKND
Fresh Meat Wknd was one of the first of its kind: Starting with a teacher training weekend (with Fen Lastra of Changeling Spaces), then a week of 1:1 coaching, practice and class refinement, and finished with a weekender where the students unleash their freshly tuned class ideas on their peers.
PFC provided a small grant that ensured that the event could pay it’s staff and student teachers reasonable rates.
The first edition was a stunning success: class attendance, morale and vibes were all high. We’re excited to see the lasting impacts of this model on the bay area, as well as country-wide fusion dance community.
Fusion Dance ACADEMY
Fusion Dance Academy was started by world renowned fusion instructor Mark Carpenter in 2023, its mission to redefine the way fusion is taught and thought about both in the SF Bay Area and beyond. The culmination of decades of dancing, dozens of workshops taught, and many late-night conversations, the Academy is a work of love for the fusion community.
PFC provides ongoing grants that ensure instructors are paid well, and scholarships always remain available for students.
